Keep Track of Your Teenage Child’s Facebook Account

Everyone nowadays uses Facebook. Kids, adults, the elderly, and everyone in-between. Some use it for business, some for gossip. If you have a child, they probably have one as well.

It should be noted that Facebook is intended for ages 13 and up, and it’s against the rules for someone to be younger than that. Of course, this doesn’t stop many young children from having profiles, but just because some have it doesn’t mean that it’s right. So if your kid isn’t a teenager yet, they shouldn’t have it in the first place.

This post will be about keeping track of your teenager. As teens, you should give them a bit more freedom. However, many of them are still growing, and they may post content that gives too much information about themselves. Or they may be boasting about illegal activities.

Some parents combat this by making their own Facebooks and making their children be their friends. However, teens can change their settings so that sensitive statuses are not shown to certain people. Plus, they may be doing something they shouldn’t do through private messages.

If not monitored, it could lead to negative consequences, including sexting, hooking up with a dangerous stranger, and even being influenced by nefarious sources. How can you combat this? By using spy software apps. These monitoring programs can allow you to see every photo, video, comment, and message that your child posts. They also have a wide range of other features and can basically monitor everything your child does online.

How it Works

We have many options to choose from when it comes to monitoring different devices, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or traditional computer. Some of these programs have Facebook Spy on it. Look around for a good product that’s right for all your needs.

Setup is standard. You choose a monitoring system, have an email sent to you with installation instructions. You need the device they use in order to monitor them, but once you implement it, all monitoring will be done through another device.

It’s discreet, so your child will never know. You’ll be able to see potential content that’s being kept from you, and once you install the program, the spy starts immediately after that.

Which Software is Right for Me?

There is so much software out there that it can be a little confusing. In truth, you just need to make sure the software has all your needs available. Do you need something that’s for one type of device or for all devices?

With that said, here are some features that most monitoring software allows.

  • Post a log of all calls, conversations, photos, texts, and videos.

  • Shows you all their contacts and memos.

  • Includes GPS tracking so you can locate their devices.

  • Restricts apps, websites, and contacts.

  • Gives an alert when your child is trying to access something.

Write down everything you need in the software and look around. Compare different programs and see which ones can give you a quality product without the cost. Try going for software that gives you a one-time fee instead of a multiple payment, and see if it can monitor multiple devices for multiple people. After that, monitor away.

When Should You Monitor?

With everything said, it may be wise to monitor only if you suspect your child is doing something wrong. Monitoring them for no reason at all may break their trust with you if they ever found out. Instead, educate your child on social media safety and tell them to think before they send.

Monitoring should only be a last resort. Teens do need privacy, but privacy is a privilege, not a right. If they’ve done something to revoke that privilege, feel free to spy.

Whilst this type of software is legal to use on your children, you must be aware of the legal issues if it is used on any adults device. In most cases this would be against the law and may have serious consequences.
